Students, teachers and parents… lend us your ears!

“Lights are on, audience were eagerly waiting… announcement started…message from Sugathakumari teacher… my dear children …  ASAPians of GHSS Kunhimangalam presents ‘Snehapoorvam Amma’…  a puppet was slowly moving up…. applause….”

Well begun is half done! Yes, asapians at GHSS Kunhimangalam are now a part of history. It is for the first time in Kerala that the school students do an anti narcotic campaign through the rare art form, puppetry. 


Report about Puppet Show on Mathrubhumi Kazhcha on July 07, 2017

In connection with ‘The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking’, a puppet show was organized by ASAP students in coordination with Kerala Governments Anti drug awareness programme ‘Vimukthi’. This awareness programme was observed at GHSS Kunjimangalam, on 27th June 2017. The puppet show focused on dramatizing the ill effects of drug abuse and created awareness against illicit trafficking of drugs.

The programme was inaugurated by Hon Revenue Minister Shri E Chandrasekharan and was chaired by Hon. MLA Shri TV Rajesh.

Puppet drama titled ‘Snehapoorvam Amma’ was based on an article by famous poet Sugathakumari. It was directed by Pramod Aduthila, who is an artist and an expert in making puppets. Story and songs were written by Dr. Jinesh Kumar Eramam, Malayalam faculty of the same institution. 
Puppet drama was the result of a yearlong effort of ASAP students at GHSS Kunhimangalam.

Puppets were made from used plastic water bottles. Students painted and stitched clothes to puppet. Sound recording were done by asapians at professional recording studio. All the asap students of this institution were involved in the puppet drama by making posters, puppet movements, singing, event management etc.  It was not just staging a drama, but a creative team work. The students have accommodated all their skills in this project viz communication, coordination, organization etc which they have acquired from asap classes.

Recent surveys show that school students are much addicted to drugs. Many such cases were reported in and around Kerala. ASAP students at GHSS Kunhimangalam believe that they can spread a new insight in the pitfalls of substance abuse among youngsters through this venture. The team which has already staged the drama at three venues is planning to take it to all educational institutions in Kerala!  Programme Coordinator Ratheesh Kazhakakkaran, Programme Manager K Sankaran along with teachers at GHSS Kunhimangalam extended all their support to the asapians and the project.

Shri T V Rajesh has taken up this as an MLA project and is planning to collaborate with excise department and Govt. of Kerala. As part of that, a work shop on drug abuse is expected to conduct at Kalliassery constituency under ASAP banner by Excise Commissioner Shri. Rishi Raj Singh IPS. 
ASAPians at GHSS Kunhimangalam has succeeded in making their end project of foundation module unit under the coordination of SDE A P K Abdul Rasheed.

A ‘professional touch’ was followed throughout this project. For asapians at GHSS Kunhimangalam, ‘Snehapoorvam Amma’ wasn’t an extra activity; it was their additional skill acquisition programme’!!

Meet the young business tycoons!


Muhammad Ashfaque

ASAPian Muhammad Ashfaque joined the Skill Course Meeting, Conference and Event Planner with great expectations. Supplementing his hopes, the course laid down a pathway for his enterprising dreams. From the very 8th day of MCEP, he went on to start his own wedding planner company along with four of his buddies. This is the story of Muhammad Ashfaque, an 18 year old ASAPian from GHSS Cheruthazham under GHSS Kottila SDC.

His team known as Green Leaf Event Planners started its journey of enterprising on April 2017 and within the 3 months has executed 4 weddings with a turnover of Rupees seven lakhs. They have also committed 3 weddings in the coming months. They mainly focus on catering services and photography.

This young entrepreneur has captured the attention of many biggies in the social arena. T.V. Rajesh MLA had praised his efforts and he was honoured by Mr. P Karunakaran MP in a conference of higher secondary school teachers. He was the youngest delegate and the only student to participate in the workshop SMILE by Bekal Resorts Development Corporation.

Dileep Kumar

Ever wondered how to get 2, 16,076 likes for your Facebook page? ASAPian Dileep Kumar has the answer. Dileep is a student of GHSS Kadannapally who joined Meeting, Conference and Event Planner with a passion to excel in the show business.

He is the admin of online movie promotion Facebook page ‘Apple Matinee’. Dileep has ventured into this with a far-sighted vision of its scope. To add to the excitement, eight BTech engineering students are working under this young entrepreneur.

He has made a profit of Rupees four lakh and above. Apple Matinee’s work includes promoting movies, reporting movie news, reviewing moviesetc. The last movie with which Dileep associated was Baahubali-2. This 17 year old has a long way to go.

Virtual Industrial Experience With The Regular Skill Training

In this summer we tried to make the skill days more meaningful with Virtual Industrial Experience along with the regular skill training. The trainers, trainees and other all staff members are worked together and all possible infrastructures used at its maximum. HOT SULAIMANI-Food Festivel Conducted by MCEP Students

The MCEP students under GHSS Kottila SDC conducted a food festival at GHSS Kottila campus on May 11, 2017 (Thursday). It was named as Hot Sulaimani, inspired from the movie Ustad Hotel. The fest was inaugurated by Mr. Prakasan (Higher Secondary Teacher) of GHSS Kottila in the esteemed presence of Mr. Sankaran K (Programme Manager, GHSS Kottila SDC) and Mr. Damodaran (well-known chef).

The fest included sale of food items, a gaming centre and free black tea for all the fest visitors. The fest show cased varieties of food items catering both to vegetarian and non-vegetarian taste buds. The items ranged from different cuisines comprising of traditional to modern culinary arts from Arabian to Malabar to European. The menu of the fest included 11 items.


The main attraction of the fest was ‘Ustad Hotel Special’ which was a combination of chappathi covered with tomato omelette. The other items included shawarma, white forest cake, vegetable cutlet, jack fruit fry, homemade egg puffs, barfi, rice-oyster fry, kayada (a Malabar special item made of banana), milk peda, fruit salad and egg cut cake.

The MCEP team was led by the Event Coordinator Mr. Muhammad Ashafaque who was assisted by Ms. Suhanath. The team was divided into various committees namely Fundraising, Marketing, Finance, Guest Relations, Venue Management, Crowd Management, Anchoring, Games, Media and Entertainment.

The fundraising team comprised of Ms. Laya and Ms. Sneha, who delivered a stupendous performance which led to collecting of a sizable amount towards food festival fund. They collected the fund in a very professional manner from the different skill trainers at GHSS Kottila.

The marketing team included Mr. Adarsh, Ms. Marjaana, Ms. Farzana and Ms. Priyanka. They had to design the festival brochures, banners and posters. The festival poster was launched on 9th May 2017 (Tuesday) by Ms. Diana Thankachan at SMILE Camp held at GHSS Kottila. They had to market the fest in different classes.

The most difficult task in the fest was money management which was professionally dealt by the finance team which included Ms. Mubasheera and Ms. Arya. They introduced food coupons and the visitors had to buy food coupons before they can get food items. They were in charge of the cash counter and of properly dividing the income among the stakeholders.

The venue team did a wonderful job of setting and decorating the fest hall in a modern way with balloons and paper cups. The venue team led by Ms. Siji Magin and Mr. Aswin K had Mr. Akshay Soman, Ms. Sreesha, Ms. Rahna and Ms. Shilpa as its dynamic members. The main attraction in the venue was the tyre with Hot Sulaimani written on it. There was a feedback bell at the festival hall which could be rung by the food lovers if they were satisfied with the food at the fest.

The guest relation was dealt by Ms. Drishya and the event coordinator himself.

The crowd management done by Mr. Akshay T.V. was able to equally divide the crowd among the different stalls.

The anchoring done by Ms. Adhila and Ms. Prajitha won accolades from the students as well as the trainers.

The games section was made eye catching by Ms. Amritha and team with different games as cup pyramid and catch the ball with cup. The winners of the game were awarded with two food coupons.

The media and publicity wing was handled by Mr. Muhammad Ajmal and he took awesome snaps of the fest.
The entertainment wing by Mr. Dileep and Mr. Ajmal unveiled a music video exclusively for the fest. The fest was accompanied by the tunes of ghazal and qawwalis.

ASAP Retail Mela

Retail Sales Associates 2016 -17 Batch of SDC GHSS Kottila organized a Retail Mela at Kottila Buss stop. Dinesh Group of companies and Baleza Out fits are sponcered the product to sell. After their theory and practical hours The applied what they earned.

Preliminary discussion  were conducted inside the class room and the plan of actions were created duties were divided.

Fixing of Place and Date

Students with the help of staff contacted PTA members and local shop vendors to find a place to conduct the Retail Mela. Mr. Pavithran, From Kottila expressed his willing to provide the space in front of his ware house at free of cost. The date of the retail Mela was 3o and 31 May 2017 since the upcoming date is school reopening.

Availing of Material

Contacted with Dinesh Group for the material. They were ready to provide the material with out any deposit for the education purpose. Baleza Out fit one of the Fashion retail company also expressed their willing to provide the dress items for the Retail Mela.

Publicity and Marketing

Students were divided in to groups and visited houses at the place with the notice and invited them

Retail Mela commenced on 30 May 2017, 10 am . First Day Hon MLA. Shri. T V Rajesh visited the Retail Mela and spent with students. District Programme Manager Smt. Diana Thankachan was present. She encouraged the students with purchasing items from Retail Mela. Principal Mr. Narayanan P, SMC Chairman Mr. Unnikrishnan and other teachers PTA members were visited. The pupil of that village used the opportunity maximum

Response

The Retail Mela was a grant success. Got a remarkable support from all side. Students were Able to sell goods of 12000 rupees.

By the Retail Mela Students were able to apply the principle construction of Retail Outlet, Visual Merchandising, Billing, Customer dealing. etc

Hearty Congratulations  to Skill SDE Mr. Balachandra Poduval , training the students and directing them to this wonderful achievement.



Sakhi Internal Beauty Clininc

Assistant Beauty Therapist students of 2016 - 17 batch established an Internal Beauty Clinic. They converted Skill Class room as a Beauty clinic. The time of operation of Beauty Clinic was 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM after the Regular Skill Training. Skill SDE put an additional effort to mentor the students after her Normal working time. The students of other batches used this facility. This clients were not only the students but staff and other well wishers co operated.

Various skill course students from SDC , Kottila, Madayi College participated in the programme. Mr. James Kuriakose, Relationship Manager of Birla sun life asset management company, Mr. I.V Rajan , Branch Head , Geojit Financial Service Taliparamba and  Mr. Haris, Branch Head; Geojit Financial Services, Vadakara handled classes on different topics of Investment. Speakers shared important tips for making successful investment.
